The world’s only independently owned 7-Elevens are located in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. These stores (approximately 100 in number) are owned by the Jim Brown family (formerly owners of the U-Totem chain) under special arrangement with the 7-Eleven mother company since 1953. These independent stores carry a slightly different product selection than other 7-Eleven stores in the United States. They do not serve hotdogs or nachos but have their own bakery called Seventh Heaven. Also, due to this independence agreement, they carry the Icy Drink, a non-7-Eleven branded product in lieu of the Slurpee. Icy Drink should not be confused with the ICEE brand. These independent Oklahoma City area 7-Elevens are unable to utilize the official company’s national advertising campaigns, promotions, and movie marketing tie-ins (e.g. The Simpsons’ Kwik-E-Mart blitz in July 2007).
